If you are building in the traditional way , the fast construction is the framework of your new construction. To build your interior walls, you have the choice between different types of quick-build brick. You will still find the ceramic quick-build brick in the majority of construction projects. How many euros can you count on for a construction project in this material? Hans Cools from Wienerberger does the explanation.
38 to 48 dollar per m²
“Ceramic fast construction brick itself costs 10 to 20 euros per m². Add the placement here and you end up with about 35 to 45 euros per m². Converted to a complete construction project of about 250 m² of fast construction, it will cost you about 8,750 to 11,250 euros, excluding VAT. ”
Which properties make your grand total higher or lower? Cools lists six factors that can make a difference.
1. Width
This high-speed brick is available in three different widths: 9 (or 10), 14 and 19 cm. Of which only the last two blocks may serve as a load-bearing wall. The wider your block, the higher the cost of course.
2. Compressive strength
“Is the block for a single-family house with a single storey and with small spans? Or for multiple floors with loft layout and large spans? A higher compressive strength of the stone also translates into a higher price. ”
3. Insulation and acoustics
Stones with better (acoustic) insulation also have an impact on the total construction cost of your project. “For example, there are glue blocks with better insulation value that completely dissolve construction joints, without the need for additional materials. Or blocks with extra mass that dampen sounds from inside and outside better. ”
4. Decrease
If you only order quick-build bricks for a small extension, you will cost more in square meter price than you have to provide a complete construction project with the necessary material.
5. Bricklaying or gluing?
“You apply traditional fast construction brick with masonry mortar. These blocks are smaller in size and are packed immediately after baking. To build them according to the rules of the art, you need a joint of about 12 mm. That joint must absorb the rough, uneven sides of the stone. ”
“Glue stones, on the other hand, are ground flat after baking. A 1 mm adhesive mortar joint suffices here and you no longer need trowel. These stones are larger in size because you have both hands free to lift them. In terms of purchase costs, they tend more towards the top of the given price range, but you do achieve a higher return: you shorten your construction time, less construction moisture has to dry up and less waste remains on the construction site. In addition, the price of the adhesive is included, so there are no extra costs for the mortar. ”
6. Transport
Finally, this cost is in addition to the above-mentioned prices. “For a completely new construction project, you quickly need a complete truck to deliver your building blocks. Compared to more expensive materials such as facing brick or roof tiles, the share of transport costs per m² is higher. Inform yourself in advance with the building dealer or contractor. ”
