A moving company’s purpose is to help people move their stuff from one place to another. But that is a simplistic analysis, and there are many mini-tasks, let’s say, which are to be done in between moving, that are essential to discuss to fathom the idea of a moving companies purpose genuinely.

What Moving Involves
Moving is typically a five-step process. First, the moving company comes over to your home and packs your belongings (though some people prefer to do this themselves). Second, the moving company loads your things onto the truck. Third, the trucks carry your belongings to your new home. The third step might also involve temporarily storing your belongings in a storage unit because your next place might not be selected yet, or ready yet. Fourth, you unload the truck into the new home. Fifth, the moving company unpacks your belongings and brings your new house in order (though some people prefer to do this themselves as well).
The trucks and other packing materials are provided for by the moving company and the training of the personnel handling the move. The training is usually pervasive because certain items are in every household, and there is a proper way to pack and move them. Furthermore, there are billable and un-billable hours during a move, and it is the responsibility of the moving company to calculate that and charge you accordingly.
There is this idea in Jung’s psychology, and it is a wonderful one, and it would be useful to discuss that with reference to my recent interactions with a moving company by the name of Move4lessnevada.com. Let’s begin by discussing the idea by Carl Jung before I relate it to the movers.
The philosophy of Jung has been interpreted in many exciting ways. But one of the analyses approaches the philosophy in a different manner. In brief, the idea is this: Every person has a potential self that manifests itself in their present life by making them interested in things. It is the fundamental truth of life that you do not know where you will end up, but you can aim at the thing which you want, so your best bet is to aim at the life you would like to have, and hopefully, you will end up somewhere that makes you happy. Keep this in mind when you are reading the next section.
The moving company that I hired for my last move sent two men over to my house to pack my things, and I had an interesting conversation with them. The movers looked like they had been in this business for a long time because they were incredibly professional and very courteous. We were having a conversation about future goals and ambitions because I find these conversations interesting, and the movers seemed interested in this as well.
The youngest of the two said something that I will hopefully never forget. He said, “I have made about 300 moves in my time here, and every one of them has a story of its own. I am not worried about where I am going to be five years from now. What I am concerned about is when the stories will stop being interesting, and I am just glad that it is not this day.”
A moving company’s purpose does not include inspiring its customers to progress further in life, but I guess no one told him that. In the midst of helping people move into their new homes, these men are helping me find new meaning in life.
