Whether a kid or an adult, this mango mousse recipe will leave everyone licking their fingers, so must try this recipe at home to give yourself a shot of instant joy.

    Mango Mousse Origination

    The mousse was not a direct invention. Instead, it was derived from different desserts and have lots of ancestors. Something resembling mousse, probably its forefather, was invented in the early 17’s by adding a sweet flavor to whipped cream; various variations were made from it consisting of different flavors like coffee, chocolates, and fruits like mangoes and strawberries.

    All these foamy mixtures of whipped cream and fruity flavors were called “crème mousseuse,” meaning foamy cream. The word Mousse refers to “foam,” so the reason why this dessert was called mousse was because of the foamy texture it beholds due to whipped cream.

    Nutritional Benefits of Mango Mousse

    Unlike other regular desserts, mango mousse is filled with the goodness of many health benefits. Though sweets are considered a big hazard for health yet, on the other hand, mango mousse is considered just the right choice for someone who wants to practice a good and healthy diet but also wants to enjoy the sweetness of desserts.

    The primary reason behind the nutria benefits of mango mousse is, of course, the mango itself. Unlike other fruits, mango has the lowest ratio of calories. Moreover, it prevents any cardiovascular disorders, enhances vision, reduces cancer risk, and helps cope with other chronic diseases.

    Along with all these benefits, mango mousse also does wonders for your digestive system due to the fact that it is rich in minerals, vitamins, and, most importantly, fibers.

    Different Types of Mango Mousse

    Mango mousse is made with various styles depending upon the area and priorities of people. However, there are four main renowned types of mango mousse that have been explained below, so let’s have a look at them and decide which one tickles your taste buds. 

    Light and Fluffy

    This variation of mousse is a bit closer to the traditional one and holds a fluffy foamy texture. Rather than being dense, this mango mousse comes with light and frothy consistency, similar to milkshake or foam on the coffee but not that much light. This can be a great dessert dish for old folks with diabetic problems as it includes far less amount of cream than the one discussed below.

    Thick and Creamy

    Unlike the former one, this mango mousse has a dense and creamy texture like that of dairy ice cream, yet with a touch of foamy whipped crème. The mango mousse of this variation is the kids’ favorite as it includes a large amount of whipped cream that takes them to another world. Your kids are going to love this variation of mango mousse as it will appear somewhat like ice cream yet healthier and richer in nutrients than the one.

    With Gelatin

    This is another variation of mango mousse in which gelatin is used to set the mousse mixture. This mango louse is much denser than the traditional version due to the added gelatin that gives it a jelly-like texture. In some other version of mango mousse with gelatin, the gelatin is topped on the mousse rather than mixing it in the mixture.

    Without Gelatin

    The Mango mousse recipe without gelatin is another well-known version of the mousse family. This is just a simple mango mousse, either thick & creamy or light & fluffy, but without any quantity of added gelatin.

    Though there are many different ways of making mango mousse, today we’re going to discuss the most loved one, i.e., mango mousse recipe with condensed milk. So let’s begin with the ingredients that you’ll need and then proceed with the step-by-step procedure.

    Ingredients You’ll Need

    The required ingredients to prepare the mango mousse are undermentioned:

     Make sure you have all of them ready by your side before beginning.

    • 2 finely chopped mangoes (medium-sized). You can also use canned mango slices.
    • 1 ½ cup of low fat whipped cream
    • ½ cup of sweetened condensed milk
    • 1 small pack of unflavored gelatin powder
    • 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
    • Hot boiling water
    • A handful of chopped dry fruits for garnishing
    • Grated chocolate of garnishing
    • Two small mango chunks for topping

    Procedure

    Once you have all the above ingredients set aside, now it’s time to start the game. Just follow these following simple steps, and you’ll have a pro-like mango mousse ready in just 30 minutes.

    Step 1:

    Mash the chopped mangoes until they turn into a fine paste or make puree out of them.

    Step 2:

    Now start whipping the cream. Do it for almost 10 minutes to acquire the required consistency. Once the cream has been whipped, set it aside.

    Step 4:

    Now melt the gelatin powder just the same way you prepare powdered jelly. Boil the water, add gelatin, let it simmer for few seconds, and set aside once completely dissolved.

    Step 5:

    Now you can add the condensed milk to the whipped cream you made earlier and beat them again until they are even fluffier.

    Step 6:

    Now add mango puree and vanilla essence to this mixture. Also, add melted gelatin and refrigerate for two hours.

    Step 7:

    Once chilled, garnish it with some dry fruits, mango chunks, and grated chocolate. Voila! Your mango mousse is ready to be served.
