Making a delicious coffee scrub yourself is an instant, so why spend a lot of money on an expensive scrub in the store with a lot of weird ingredients that are often very damaging to the environment because of the commonly used microplastics? Today I will show you how to make a delicious coffee scrub yourself with only 3 ingredients. Easy, cheap, and good for yourself and the environment!
Some time ago I started experimenting with making my own scrub and I am still a fan of my homemade sugar scrub. However, I like a bit of variety and I wanted to make a wonderful smelling and invigorating scrub. Since I am not a fan of most essential oils, I had to look for another way to make a wonderful smelling scrub. Then I came across various scrubs made from ground coffee. Now be honest, what could be better than the smell of fresh coffee? Virtually nothing! So my new DIY scrub was born.
It seems that just the smell of coffee can boost someone at the beginning of the day, so that seemed like the perfect scrub to start the morning with. In addition, ground coffee seems to work excellent against cellulite! I dare not say whether this is really the case, but it is packed with antioxidants and it smells delicious, so what more could you want?
For this simple coffee scrub you only need 3 ingredients:
- 1/2 cup of ground coffee
- 1/2 cup of sugar
- 1/4 cup coconut oil
Make sure the coconut oil is liquid, this mixes better. Mix this with the ground coffee and the sugar. Stir this well until you have a consistency that you are happy with. And voila, you have made your own coffee scrub! You can keep this homemade scrub for about 2 weeks in a clean and tightly closed jar.
The ground coffee can be both used and unused, but if you use unused ground coffee you may need a little more oil to get a fine consistency of the scrub. By the way, I use odorless coconut oil, but you can definitely use scented coconut oil or even olive oil. I personally enjoy working with coconut oil. The scrub is very mild and gives off a delicious coffee scent, but do not be afraid: if you rinse yourself well after scrubbing, you really do not smell like coffee all day.
Because coffee is so invigorating, I would recommend using this scrub especially in the morning to start the day completely boosted, I don’t want you to get sleepless nights through my DIY :). Are you looking for an evening scrub that will not give you (possibly) sleepless nights? Then try this sugar scrub.
