Getting acclimatized with your home and learning how it functions are a part and parcel of being a homeowner. It’s better to do things right when you move in, instead of you assuming that you’ll figure out everything later.

We fully understand that you need to look through a lot of things. So to help you, we’ve put together this list of necessary things to check while you move into a new home.

Most of these things aren’t time consuming, but they do require you to make a conscious effort to get them done. So read this post fully and create a plan on accomplishing the things.

Soon, you’ll be able to fully enjoy your new house!

    Check your entire house

The first thing you need to consider is to fully check your house. We believe that when your house is empty, it’s easy to have a look around.

In fact, before setting up furniture’s and unpacking the load, it’s absolutely necessary to check whether all requested and agreed repairs and fixes have been completed by the previous owner, everything that was agreed to be included in the sale is present in the house, everything is in the working order in the house including switches, power outlets and so on. Also, make sure that all electric sockets are the inaccessible area for example if you have a brand new convection microwave oven but if you do not have enough sockets to plug it in then it will be of no use. So it is better to check if the electric switches and sockets are incorrect position or add new ones at the required area.

The full check allows you to contact your realtor if you find any issue in your house. If you find certain issues that weren’t agreed in the sale, they are your responsibility to fix them. But it’s good to know the issues beforehand. All in all, checking your house fully the first time you move in is a necessary step to complete.

    Child/pet safety

Whether you are moving into your new home with kids, or you are moving in with your furry 4 legged pet, the immediate step you need to take is to find out if your home is safe for all of them before you put your full setup into place. Check any electrical cords hanging in the windows, all doors and windows are with a strong, secure lock, and whether your house is built with high shelves to keep the dangerous things such as cleaning products, cutters, and knives out of the reach of your kids.

Have a plan of how you’ll set up your house

You’ll save yourself a lot of time and trouble when you move into a new home if you have a rough plan of how you are going to setup your house. One thing you need to remember when you prepare a rough plan is that it doesn’t have to be perfect.

You can just prepare a plan to give you an idea of what goes where. This’ll also give you piece of mind when you setup large furniture.

You can always make changes in the setup of your house, but having a general idea is always helpful in making it an easier task. You can also refer vletuknow.com to know about things to consider before moving into a new home.

Make sure all your utilities are perfectly set up in your new home

There are two things you need to take care of when it comes to setting up your utilities. The first one is to arrange for them and the second one is to make sure that everything is in working order.

Before moving into your house, you have to arrange for all of your utilities. And on the day you move to your house, make sure that everything is good to go and working properly.

Do a deep clean before moving into your new home

The last thing you can do after going through the moving process is to do a deep clean of your home. Some people would prefer to deep clean the house before moving in and others would prefer it to take place after the moving process is over.

Whichever way you prefer, do a deep cleaning of your new home from top to bottom. If you don’t have the time or inclination to stick your hands in cleaning gloves and pick up a mop, we don’t blame you.

Because moving all your things from your previous place to your new home is in itself is a tiring process. So, don’t beet yourself.

Just consider calling the professional cleaners. After all, starting a new life in a clean home environment is more than worth the expense.

We hope that we’ve given you a complete list of necessary things to check while you move into a new home.
