Zhao is a new character in Zenless Zone Zero for the 2.5 version update. While Ze Shunguang takes the spotlight as a Main DPS, Zhao shines more as a new Support. As a Defense character, she specializes in giving the best buffs and heals to her team to keep the damage output flowing. She also has some great versatility and cheap choices when it comes to her W-Engines and builds. Here’s how to make some of Zhao’s best build combinations.
Zhao’s Strengths & Weaknesses
Zhao’s Support role plays by providing buffs across the party. Her main buffs provide Attack boosts that are perfect for whoever’s the Main DPS. However, even for other Support members, their Attacks get a boost as well. She can also use her Special Attack to give heals across the party which are improved through W-Engines. Zhao is a genuinely amazing Support to have, but there’s one major problem that holds her back. Outside of teams with Ye Shunguang, she can’t do much in other types. Zhao right now works best when having Ye Shunguang also pulled from the other banner. Otherwise, you may lose out on using all of Zhao’s kits until other synergizing characters are released.

Zhao’s Best W-Engines
The best W-Engines for Zhao are ones that further boost her existing buffs. While they don’t increase the buffs themselves, they more so add onto the base stats for the party. That way, all of Zhao’s buffs end up increasing more than before. Considering her healing abilities too, any Max Health buffs are guaranteed to work best for Zhao.

Zhao’s Best Drive Discs
Like the W-Engines, the Drive Discs will provide some extra buffs for party stats, but this time, it’s for Attacks. Zhao gives lots of Attack buffs to party members, but this can be increased through the Drive Discs. While the best W-Engines increase the party Max Health, these Drive Discs are best for increasing those Attack buffs and Skills.

The Best Team Comps for Zhao
As mentioned before, despite Zhao being a Support character, she only pairs well with Anomaly and All Attack teams. This is meant to synergize with the other debut character, Ye Shunguang. However, she can still buff up some free-to-play party members like Billy and Anby. Her Attack power-ups will especially help with Billy’s stats for DPS.
