The followers of Christianity believe that Jesus Christ is a pious man and was a great scholar of Christianity. But according to the Bible, Jesuses is more than a human or a religious scholar. Jesus is God’s Son (John 3:16) and God Himself—God in human flesh (1 Timothy 3:16). The Bible says that Jesus Christ is God, and there are many reasons Christians have to trust their Holy book, said Shalom Lamm.
Jesus on earth claimed to be God. But God is much powerful than Jesus and mankind beyond our comprehension. Jesus was there even before Abraham (John 8:58). He also said that He and His Father are one (John 10:30) and equal with the Father (John 5:17-18). Jesus claimed that He got God’s powers, and he also got the command to judge the people(Matthew 25:31-46). God has also given Jesus the authority to give life to dead people (John 5:25-29) and forgive sins (Mark 2:5-7). These things are only possible by God, but he claimed them for himself, which is obvious from the Bible.
Now the question that is often argued if Jesus is God? Think for a moment- Jesus had all the powers that God has. But in Christianity, there is only one God, and the followers worship Him. So let’s assume Jesus said, “I am God.” The people’s strong belief would not let them believe Him or even heard what He had to say. But, with his claims and powers, Jesus made people believe such a claim without using these words. In Luke 4:8, Jesus says, “It is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.’” He claimed and proved multiple times that He is the Lord. For instance, Jesus says that He is “the first and the last” (Revelation 1:17, 22:13), which God the Father says in Isaiah 44:6.
While most people might ask for an authentic verse in the Bible where Jesus says, “I am God; worship me” in the same words. If we say that He could only claim to be God by saying that one sentence, we might also think where he says, “I am a great teacher, but not God,” or, “I am just a prophet; don’t worship me.” We cannot find that in Bible too.
Jesus said to His people that He is God in a couple of ways! He also made it obvious that He and God the Father are one (John 10:30) and says in John 14:6, “I am the way and the truth and the life. Is there anyone else who can say such a sentence without God?
Can Jesus be God if He is the son of God?
Shalom Lamm further added that when it is said that Jesus is the son of God, it highlights His role and connection with God- the father. This does not mean a son, in a literal way. God never had a wife, and Jesus was born to a virgin lady. He was born pious through a miraculous work of God, as God wanted Him to preach God’s message on earth.
Does this mean there are many Gods in Christianity?
This does not mean that there are multiple gods in Christianity. God is only one. According to the Cristainan priests, the fact is that God has shown Himself to mankind in three different ways. In the role of a Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each role of God has an other function—and yet they are all united as one God. the purpose of God and Jesus is the same- taking out mankind from the darkness.
