If you are starting out in the popular MMO OSRS for the first time, then odds are you are trying to get your head around a lot of the aspects that you have been presented with. There is questing, skilling, earning OSRS gold, and much more to get to grips with. Not only that, but first impressions might leave you feeling behind the times, especially when you are comparing to modern day MMO titles.
However, whilst this might be the case, this is what makes Old School Runescape as beloved as it is. What’s more, it is still thriving with the playerbase it has and the updates that it gets. Over 16 years ago, the game introduced Slayer to the game, which is one of the reasons that OSRS is still as popular as it is even now. One feature that makes it so popular is the potential to earn OSRS gp with it. This is something that has led a lot of players to start selling the currency itself, so you could theoretically find someone who has OSRS gold for sale to buy OSRS gold from them.
There are a lot of different features in Slayer that makes it unique. You will speak with Slayer masters, and you’ll need the best possible equipment so that you can deal with unique monsters that stand in your way. With features such as these, you may find it all a bit daunting, but don’t worry. Everyone has to start somewhere when it comes to slaying, and there are some steps you can take to prepare yourself.
Starting Slayer
If you are ready to get started on the Slayer part of OSRS, then firstly we need to find a Slayer master. These are NPCs that act as guidance for those looking to complete the Slayer tasks. They are the ones that will mentor you and assign Slayer tasks for you to head out on. These tasks involve having to kill certain monsters. This is a fantastic way for you to earn OSRS gp and other rewards, but you will have to be prepared for killing these particular creatures. If there is a Slayer master that has a combat level that’s high, then you will need to be prepared for a longer task to complete. In terms of stats, Duradel has the heftiest requirements with 100 combat and 50 Slayer to do those tasks. To get started, maybe stick with easier masters, such as Turael. This will give you a bit more of an introduction of how Slayer works.
Preparing with Gear
So now that you have more of an idea of how Slayer works in general, we need to start preparing for the tasks themselves. To do so, it will involve in getting the right gear. You will need to be using the best equipment possible, as it will play a part in how much experience you earn. To make sure that you are getting the right equipment, try and have the best-in-slot for each piece of equipment that you have. By doing so, you are giving yourself more of an opportunity to earn more experience.
The equipment that you need to get surrounds magic, ranged and melee. For those looking for a magic approach, then the Ancient Staff can be a great option to use for magic. Ranged meanwhile has the option of the Toxic Blowpipe, which is one of the most effective ranged weapons in the game, amongst the likes of the Twisted Bow. As for melee, DPS should be your priority. Therefore, any weapons that can help you with DPS are all good. If you do need a suggestion, then the Abyssal Dagger and the Dragon Fire Shield are very useful here.
With this information, you should be ready to take on Slayer yourself in Old School Runescape. There are a number of features that are there for you to enjoy in OSRS, but knowledge is more often than not half of the battle in these instances. Knowing what equipment to have is such a huge difference maker where Slayer is concerned. If you are looking to get started on making OSRS gold, then this is a handy place to do so as well. Just make sure that you have prepared yourself appropriately before you are starting Slayer. By doing so, you stand to not only make a lot more OSRS gp, but you will also be having a positive effect on the amount of experience that you earn.
So now that you’re prepared to get started on Slayer, what are you looking forward to the most? Do you have a particular approach that you are planning to use? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below!
