In the past, the Canadian government has considered entry visas to be high-value items. But with ETA, a new document which covers travel and immigration restrictions, Canada canada-eta is providing visa applicants with a simplified process that is inclusive of a wider range of services.
There are several reasons for this change. For starters, the Canadian government knows that making travel and immigration information more easily available is one of the most important tools for securing the best global citizens.
Unfortunately, for many global citizens, immigration and travel can be complicated processes.
Wealthy citizens often have contacts and networks in place, and friends in need. But they might not have family in Canada or some other strategic reason to travel, and Canada has no system for reaching out to a friend who lives thousands of miles away. These situations can cause delay and frustration.
Here’s what the ETA visa does:
1. Gives applicants an exit number
It is a new standardized document that shows how long an individual has been in Canada – known as the time of entry. It can be shown in the ETA visa application.
2. Combines paper and digital applications
With a few clicks, applicants can upload proof of immigration status and travel from their phones, without having to print it out and sign it at home. The digital application process is more efficient, and it’s easy to produce, copy and file.
3. Increases entry access points
There are 17 entry points that are managed by the Government of Canada. The ETA also simplifies the travel process by adding a fall-back option to secure an approved ETA visa without having to fly to a Canadian embassy abroad.
4. Incorporates Canadian employment information
Application requirements are built into the ETA, allowing Canadian employers to recognize employees who are legally in Canada and in good standing, with no need to refer to national employment databases. In particular, this feature helps the L3 visa stream, which recognizes people who work outside the United States and Canada.
5. Makes the application process easier
It is one of the easiest documents to file, and it doesn’t require travel and an interview at a Canadian embassy or consulate.
6. Helps reduce delays
If an applicant’s work or residency requirements can be met by a Canadian employer, they can file the ETA instead of filling out the L3 or PR3 form. This will help reduce processing time, save the employer time and money, and simplify the process for applicants.
7. Provides an official stamp
After filing the ETA form, it’s immediately delivered to a Canadian Embassy or Consulate to ensure that an individual has entered Canada.
8. Increases the immigration intake
The ETA could be beneficial for tourists and students, as well as Canadians who have to travel. Many international students and Canadian residents don’t have legal documents for entry, and when visa officers find the right documentation during an applicant’s initial interview, they issue the ETA. The ETA acts as a reminder to Canadian officials that they issued an immigration document in the first place.
9. Encourages Canada to grow its immigration system
The ETA reduces the number of work or study permits that are issued each year, reducing the load on Canada’s immigration system and protecting the country’s ability to meet growing demand.
10. Makes it easy for other countries to know who is legally in Canada
Canada’s national information system allows other countries to search and access information about who is legally in Canada, including the ETA visa.
Since the ETA’s introduction in July, Canadian officials have already granted more than 11,000 ETA visas, and applications continue to come in, according to Canadian officials.
Applications will continue to be accepted throughout 2017, and this option can be an important stepping stone for applicants, facilitating an expedited path to permanent residency in Canada.
