Almost 1 in 2 Women Have Scalp Build Up And Even Higher For Men
As a salon owner for 20 years Mary Keen sees all kinds of hair and scalp issues and some can be severe. Some are pretty severe while others not so much. But it does pain her to see her customers that seem to be powerless to many of the scalp and hair problems that they face when they do not have to be. One of the most common is pimples on scalp with irritation and sometimes scabs or head acne that occur at the hair line or back of the head or some cases all over the scalp.
The most asked question that we get at our salon is what can I do to get my hair healthier. Sometimes that means thicker, less breakage, growing healthier, holding color better, not looking so dry or coarse and many times what can I do about the excessively oily scalp and hair that I have. But the one that seems to trouble our customers the most are those that have build up that has become visible and they have been told by their dermatologist that they have severe dandruff or seborrheic eczema or scalp psoriasis. They are told these are chronic conditions and that there really isn’t much they can do to help other than use a medicated shampoo and nothing could be further from the truth.
All the problems listed above have 1 common problem. Scalp and Hair Follicle Buildup. Over the years the buildup can wreak havoc in ways that you can’t even imagine.

Can Follicle Plugs and Sebum Build Up Be Causing Acne Bumps and Sores?
YES! Did we say YES! The build up clogs the follicle but when the sebum plug starts to form it mixes with yeast, fungus and or bacteria. These are all naturally occurring on the scalp but when they grow out of control the real problems start. The fungus that causes dandruff and seborrheic dermatitis can hide down inside the plugs and work their way through the mostly plugged follicles to create havoc such as sores, scalp scabs, severe itching, redness, inflammation and so forth….inflammation that closes up the hair follicles even more. The scalp will then kick sebum production in over drive in an effort to push out the bacteria, yeast and fungus but because of the condition of the scalp and inflammation as well as clogged pores the sebum only feeds the fungus since it cannot move properly or be expelled. The result is vicious cycle of scalp issues
What Is The Best Way To Get Rid Of the Excess Sebum – Oily Hair or Scalp?
You have to open the plugs and unclog the pores from a sebum mixture that can include shampoo and hair product residue that can be extremely sticky and even hard. It could also be mixed with and held together by fungus or yeast. This can make it very difficult to get rid of with regular shampoos. Traditional Medicated shampoos are not enough to open the clogged hair follicles. The regular shampoos will help with symptoms of seborrhea dermatitis and also dandruff but they aren’t designed to help open the clogged pores on the scalp, head, neck and even eyebrows or beards.
When we are asked at the salon how to remove scalp buildup we also explain that the best way to do this is with Herbal Mixes that are designed to not only melt away the sebum plugs but also with minerals such as zinc that when topically applied has natural anti fungal and anti bacterial properties. Over 20 years ago the Herbal Complex Zincplex was developed for this very purpose. It has been the secret of hair stylist everywhere to deep cleanse and purify the scalp, hair follicles and also the hair to help restore balance. Zincplex Scalp Scrub and Extra Shampoo are what is used mostly for white patches of buildup and gunk or top help open hair follicles so that everyone can give their roots a fresh new start at optimal growth and being able to grow to their maximum diameter. This will also help with receiving nutrition through the micro blood supply. Inflammation reduction is also a result of a clean hair follicle.
A Good scalp scrub can remove the hardened sebum or crusty bumps and scabs on the scalp while the Zinc Plex shampoo is used to irrigate down inside the hair follicles to flush out all that has built up over the years. This means extremely healthy hair that is taken care of from the root to the very tip. Shine, healthy hair that feels right is the result of deep cleansing and detoxifying.
