If you are in the market to retrain, IT could be the best career path for you.

Looking for a new job? Struggling to find something evergreen? Information Technology has been growing steadily in significance for many years. Recently, however, it has gone through a boom. As remote work increases in popularity, so does the need for trained IT staff who can help software used to run smoothly.

From typists to specialists, IT is important.

    The Progression of IT

The technology sector has been growing in leaps and bounds recently. There is hardly a person alive who hasn’t witnessed the progression of the Working From Home movement themselves. Remote work has become the new normal. If we can minimise the spread of bacteria by staying at home and logging in to the digital office, we can all agree that it is safer for everyone.

Apart from the pandemic forcing many employer’s hands, it also saw many of us left without any work at all. As those of us who need to are retraining in other areas, it’s a good idea to cast around for some of the most stable workplaces. One of the industries most stable after the pandemic, is technology. Companies like Zoom, Amazon, Microsoft, and others have all outperformed these last few quarters, where almost every other aspect of industry took a dip.

It makes sense to put your future where the stability is and right now that’s in IT. The satellite office concept has come a long way since its coining in the 80s.

How to find work in IT?

Finding work in IT can only happen if you have completed some training or if you are experienced in your role. However, there are firms out there who can help you with both. Browsing Hays IT Jobs, for example, will help you to find work and train for new positions, should you need additional expertise.

When you have the training you need, there are plenty of ways you can find work in your chosen area. Let’s finish with a few suggestions on how to give yourself the best chances of finding work in IT, in your area.

    Upload your CV

Certain job search sites allow you to upload your CV, therefore giving employers the chance to browse employees, instead of you just applying all the time. This gives you double the exposure and allows you to be considered for roles you might not have thought of.

    Tailor your Cover Note

If you are applying for roles, your cover letter shouldn’t be one-size-fits-all. Instead, tailor your cover notes to suit each job. This gives you the opportunity to highlight parts of your CV that might be relevant to this particular role.

    Collect Skills

The more strings you have in your IT bow, the better chance of landing a job. Collecting skills is a sure way to bolster your own confidence, too. The bigger the range of tasks you can handle, the more confident you are in your own abilities.
