You are nicely dressed in a great formal outfit with a leather belt, leather shoes and Apple Watch leather buckle. AirPods are designed to pair with your Apple Watch, iPhone and other devices seamlessly. However, when you are unable to connect your AirPods to your Apple Watch, this can be very frustrating. So, let’s see how you can fix it.
First of all, before you to connect AirPods to the watch, you have to do the following:
- Make sure that your iPhone and AirPods are connected.
- Make sure that your Apple Watch and AirPods are connected.
If your device is linked to your iCloud account, your AirPods will seamlessly pair to the device. First of all, connect your AirPods to your iPhone. After that, open Settings in your Apple Watch and then Bluetooth. Can you see AirPods on the list? Tap on AirPods and now you can listen to your favourite songs or audiobooks.
If you cannot connect AirPods to the watch, take the following steps.
Restart the Watch
The problem might be because of a technical glitch or a minor software problem. First of all, restart the watch. Press and hold the side button. Swipe the slider to the right when the Power Off slider appears. Restart the watch after 15 seconds.
AirPlane Mode
When the AirPlane mode is on, Bluetooth is turned off automatically. Swipe up from the watch’s bottom.
Turn AirPlane mode off if the icon is orange.
Power Reserve
Bluetooth is always off when the Power Reserve is on. Charge up the watch and turn Power reserve off.
Update the Watch
If you are still unable to connect your AirPods to the watch then you may be using an outdated version of the operating system. Like your brand new Apple Watch leather buckle, the operating system should also be the latest. Make sure that you are using watchOS 3 or higher. Take the following steps to update the operating system of your Apple Watch:
Open the Watch app -> General -> Software Update
If this does not prompt “Download and Install”, you are using the latest version of the operating system. If it does, tap Download and Install.
Make sure that the battery life of the watch is more than 50% and it is connected to Wi-Fi.
Check the Range
Make sure that AirPods are in the range of your Apple Watch. Both devices have very good Bluetooth range. Still, put them next to each other. You should be able to pair your AirPods to your Watch.
Charge the Charging Case and AirPods
As there is no built-in indicator, you cannot keep an eye on the battery life of your AirPods. You can check AirPods’ battery life on your watch. The problem is that your Watch and AirPods are not paired. You can check AirPod’s battery life on your iPhone. When you are on the Home Screen, swipe to the left. Tap Edit and see the left of the Batteries. There you will find a green plus button. Tap that button. You can check the battery life of AirPods. Now charge your AirPods.
Forget your AirPods As a Bluetooth Device
Whenever you connect the watch to a new Bluetooth device, the watch saves some data. Sometimes, the way the Apple Watch or AirPods pairs to that device is changed. Forget your AirPods As a Bluetooth Device on the watch and reconnect. Take the following step:
Settings -> Bluetooth -> i button next to the AirPods -> Forget Device
Now, reconnect your AirPods to iPhone and Apple Watch.
Erase All Content and Settings
Sometimes, the problem is due to some software issue. You need to erase all content and settings on the watch. Make sure that you have a proper backup. Take the following steps:
Settings -> Reset -> Erase All Content and Settings
Enter passcode and tap Erase All.
Now try to connect your AirPods again. Speak to customer support representatives if you are still unable to connect both devices.
