Remodeling your kitchen these days requires you to compare and contrast between different materials to use. This article will focus on the materials used in the making of sinks. We read a lot of material online, on how to clean stainless steel sinks, and franke granite sinks reviews, and here’s what we found out.

Stainless Steel: Is It Really Durable?

We are all familiar with the use of stainless steel in multiple kitchen appliances and fixtures, and that’s for good reason. It is relatively durable and easy to care for. Nowadays there are more options when it comes to stainless steel, making it a versatile option. However, no matter how much you care for your stainless steel sink, you will find that it is prone to scratching and dulling out over time. This is important if you care for the aesthetics of your kitchen sink, but places like commercial kitchens might not mind so much.

    Granite: Durability For A Price

Although granite is a very durable material, it requires a lot of upkeep to keep in perfect condition. We’re not saying that it’s very difficult to care for, but it requires a little more work when compared to stainless steel. This is especially apparent when using darker granite. Homeowners have reported that if the water contains a lot of deposits (it is hard), leaving the sink to dry out results in a white film accumulating on the surface of the granite. The only way to remedy this is to wash the sink thoroughly after each use and dry it out with a clean cloth (preferably microfibre). This can feel like a chore to some people, and those who neglect to keep this habit may find that they are dissatisfied with the aesthetics of their granite sink simply because they aren’t disciplined enough to care for it.

Aesthetics: Which Is The Better LookIng Matter

There is no doubt that most interior design catalogs these days tend to favor granite countertops and sinks. This shouldn’t mean that a stainless steel sink is inherently ugly or the bad choice. On the contrary, there are many designers that are able to use stainless steel to their advantage by pairing it with other stainless (brushed) steel appliances. Because of its widespread use, many people assume that translates to mean that stainless steel sinks are cheap and ugly. This is not necessarily the case because there are several new designs that stray from the norm,

    Conclusion

Both materials are equally durable, albeit with different levels of care required. Whether you choose to fit in a granite sink or stainless steel will depend on your preferences, budget, and the look you are going for in your kitchen. Both are viable options, but keep in mind that granite is generally more expensive than other materials used. Even if you have a granite countertop, that does not necessarily mean you absolutely need to have a granite sink. In the end, you should choose the material that you personally enjoy.
