Cisco 4948 Switch. The 4948 switch is a fixed-configuration, low-latency, layer 2 to layer 4, wire-speed switch with a single rack unit that is excellent for rack-optimized server switching. Using the same hardware and software architecture as the previous 4500 series, the 4948 offers multi-layer aggregation, low-density reliability with exceptional performance at a greatly reduced price. With the 4948 architecture and configuration, this revamped model now offers twice the uplink capacity with 4 10GB Ethernet uplinks plus direct IPv6 hardware support. Additionally, it can be configured with cooling from back to front or vice versa as required during deployment. However, the 4948E and 4948E-F continue to offer 48 10/100/1000 ports, 4 SFP ports with 1000BASE-X and SFP + optics, and internal power and fan support.
Cisco 4928 10GB Ethernet Switch Called the mid-size LAN aggregation branch switch, the Cisco 4928 10GB switch is a high-performance branch-based LAN aggregation implementation with Layer 2 to Layer 4 support that is ideal for small form factor solutions.
