Deter crime by installing a CCTV camera system

CCTV singapore is the perfect way to prevent crime in Singapore. A criminal will think twice about robbing or vandalizing your property if he fears that he will be caught on video and later identified. Installing a CCTV camera system in your home or office building can help you protect yourself, your family, and your belongings. Here are some things you must know about how to install a CCTV camera system in your home or office building.

Choose the right place to install your cameras

The first thing you have to do is find an appropriate location for your CCTV camera system. You can either mount it on the exterior of your house or inside the house depending on what you want to capture. An interior camera  is best for watching over your kids, elderly parents, and pets. While exterior cameras are better used to keep an eye on your car or front door. You can also put up a camera at the back of the house if there is any construction work going on. This will ensure that no one tampers with your property while you are away. Place  your cameras at the right height

Once you have chosen the location to install your camera, you will need to place it at an appropriate height. The best way is to mount the cameras so that they are eye-level with adults. For child monitoring purposes, mounting them higher will prove to be useful as kids generally don’t look up while playing outdoors. A high-angled CCTV camera angle  is good for spotting actions happening over a tall fence. Keep in mind that you should never mount the camera on the ground as this can easily be tampered with.

Determine how many cameras you need

Installing a CCTV camera system is not as simple as screwing in a couple of cameras and watching the footage. You should determine first how many cameras you need based on your property size and the type of activity you want to capture. Installing too few or too many cameras can render your camera system useless. If there are blind spots in your property, you can always add more cameras later.

    Screw in the camera(s)

Now that you have determined the area to be monitored and the number of CCTV cameras needed, it’s time to screw in those cameras. Once all your cameras are securely mounted, it is best to connect them using a video/power cable designed specifically for security camera systems. Make sure not to block a camera’s view with a tree or other objects.

Install a DVR or a NVR to record footage

The next step is to install a digital video recorder  (DVR) if your surveillance system is close-circuit, or a network video recorder  (NVR) if it is IP-based. Make sure to connect the device with the CCTV cameras as well as a TV monitor. After the DVR or NVR is connected, you can insert a blank hard drive to store recorded footage.

    View CCTV camera footage remotely

You can also choose to install wireless IP cameras that allow you to view recorded footage from anywhere in the world. These cameras come with their own IP address which you have to enter into your internet browser to access. To prevent unauthorized access, always change the default IP address for your cameras as soon as you set them up and make sure that they use WPA/WPA2 encryption. You can also manually enter a username and password or install an additional layer of security such as DDNS service onto your camera so that no one else can view your security camera footage without your permission.

If you are concerned about the safety of your business or home, installing a CCTV camera system is one of the best ways to ensure that you get all the necessary protection that you need.

    Conclusion

In conclusion,  installing a CCTV camera system in your home or business is actually pretty simple and straightforward. All you need to do is carefully choose the location for your cameras, place them at an appropriate height, determine how many you need and then screw them in; followed by installing a DVR/NVR and finally viewing footage remotely through wireless IP cameras. However it is important to note that while this article discusses the basics, there are many other factors you should take into consideration when choosing CCTV camera systems.

For example, it is not advised to use prepaid DVRs because they can be hacked easily and there’s no way of knowing who will have access to your footage in the future. Some may also prefer wireless IP cameras that can be installed quickly and provide remote access. You should also investigate the best placing of surveillance cameras to get the most out of it and make sure all your equipment functions well.
