    How Do Appliance Technicians Work?     

    Many appliance technicians need specific skills to fulfill their responsibilities. We have compiled a list of typical tasks that appliance technicians can expect to perform in their roles based on examples from real resumes.

    • Repair refrigerators, dishwashers, clothes washers, dryers, microwaves, garbage disposals, ovens, stoves.
    • Respond to reports of gas leaks and other emergencies.
    • Coordinate and supervise all HVAC and appliance installations to meet high standards.
    • Dispose of, repair, and replace damaged components such as resistors, transformers, and capacitors.
    • Install appliances such as washers, dryers, fridges, ranges, and dishwashers from Whirlpool.
    • Communicate to customers the diagnosis and the need for repair of their products courteously and knowledgeably.
    • Fix Samsung appliances at the customer’s home if they need them fixed.
    • Develop custom windows database programs and gain experience with a variety of other programs and applications.
    • Provide information on operation and care of appliances, as well as emergency contact information.

    What Are The Steps To Become an Appliance Technician?

    A person interested in becoming an appliance technician should consider how much education they need. In our study, we found that 9.8% of appliance technicians possess a bachelor’s degree. The level of higher education among appliance technicians is 0.7%, based on our research. A high school diploma or GED can be enough to become an appliance technician, although some have college degrees.

    It is always important to decide what major to pursue when learning how to become an appliance technician. According to our research, appliance technicians most commonly earn high school diplomas or associate degrees. We often see diploma and bachelor’s degree degrees on resumes of appliance technicians.

    An appliance technician may benefit from experience from other jobs. It is common for appliance technicians to have experience as maintenance technicians. In addition, many appliance technicians have previous work experience as service technicians or technicians.

    Salary of an Appliance Technician

    The average salary for appliance technicians in America is $37,397 per year or $18 an hour. In contrast, the bottom 10 percent makes less than $26,000 a year, while the top 10 percent makes over $53,000.

    A Technician’s top skills

    It’s essential that your resume’s skills section accurately reflects your abilities, so you want to make it as accurate as possible. Even if you don’t have these skills yet, we’ve identified all of the skills you’ll need. Among all the resumes we reviewed, 20.4% of appliance technicians listed customer service skills, but organizational skills and physical strength are equally valuable.

    Best states for Appliance Technicians

    When it comes to starting a career as an appliance technician, some places are better than others. New Jersey, Alaska, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania are the best states for people in this position. With an average salary of $49,274, appliance technicians earn the most in New Jersey. On the other hand, in Alaska and Connecticut, the average salary is $43,408 and $42,679. However, appliance technicians in Pennsylvania would make more than anywhere else in the country. Each would make on average $42,662 a year. These are the best states based on job availability and pay.
