An overview of hemorrhoids during pregnancy

During the third trimester of pregnancy, hemorrhoids are frequently encountered. Constipation increased pelvic pressure, and increased blood volume are typically to blame. Typical symptoms include tumors, bleeding from the rectal area, and itching. Home remedies like cold packs, warm baths, or over-the-counter lotions and ointments are commonly used to treat symptoms. Before using any medicine or cream to treat your symptoms, you should consult a doctor to ensure it is safe.

    Treatment options for pregnancy hemorrhoids

Hemorrhoids can be reduced by a variety of lifestyle changes and at-home therapies. But it is wise not to disregard them. Hemorrhoids that are left untreated may worsen over time and result in consequences, including increasing discomfort or, in rare instances, anemia from bleeding. You may need to speak with a medical expert to diagnose and cure your hemorrhoids. It is always a good idea to talk with a doctor if you detect any new bleeding when you wipe or in your stool because hemorrhoids are not the sole reason for bleeding close to your anus.

    Types of hemorrhoids

Internal and external hemorrhoids are the two forms of hemorrhoids. Symptoms range depending on the kind of hemorrhoid.

    1.      Internal hemorrhoids:

This type occurs within the rectum of your body. Because they are hidden in the rectum, they might be challenging to detect. Some internal hemorrhoids might prolapse, expanding beyond the anal hole. Internal hemorrhoids can produce bleeding, although they seldom cause pain. This is due to the fact that they are in a region with no nerve endings. If an internal hemorrhoid prolapses, it can be excruciating.

    2.      External hemorrhoids:

This kind develops outside of the body. They are skin-covered and placed near the anus. This skin is susceptible and prone to inflammation. If an external hemorrhoid swells or forms a blood clot, it might cause pain. A blood clot that develops in hemorrhoids can cause excruciating agony. The pain usually worsens over the first 48 hours and then lessens over the next few days.

Pregnancy hemorrhoids are a typical occurrence. If you see hemorrhoids, get medical attention immediately since they might worsen. You can attempt a variety of at-home remedies, but you could also require medical attention. Any therapy, including over-the-counter treatments, should be discussed with your doctor to ensure that it won’t have an impact on your pregnancy.

Hemorrhoids may disappear after delivery without any medical assistance. However, you should consult a doctor about other treatment options, such as surgery, if things do not improve or worsen. Call Christopher K Quinsey, MD, to schedule your meeting today to determine which hemorrhoid procedures are ideal for you.
