How Should I Prepare For The Surgery?

Preparing for the surgery isn’t a matter of days or weeks. It can take several months for some patients. The main goal of this preparation is to be calm before the procedure. You’ll have to make a long commitment to making major changes in your life related to exercises and diet. Furthermore, some people are recommended by surgeons to lose 5-10% of excess fat before the surgery. So, if you get the same suggestion, you’ll have to start focusing on it to qualify. In addition, you’ll have to be ready and start practicing the new lifestyle weeks before the surgery, so it won’t become a hurdle in the recovery process.

We would additionally recommend you to prepare some meals beforehand, and freeze them so you won’t have to do it after.

What Things I Should Take Along In The Hospital?

There is not much to bring for your weight loss surgery in Long Island. Just take a few necessary clothing items, including comfortable pajamas and a shirt. Along with it, take any medication that is prescribed. And that’s about it. You can ask your surgeon if you will need to bring anything else along with you. Other than this, you can bring some stuff like a phone or magazines for your stay in the hospital after the surgery.

    What Will Happen After Surgery?

For the first few days, the doctors will recommend you complete rest for your safety. And when it comes to food, typically you’ll have to stay on a liquid diet for about 2-4 weeks. And gradually, you’ll be able to eat the solid food again. The diet to intake is suggested by the bariatric surgeon based on your circumstances and goals.

How Long Will It Take To Recover?

Whether you had gastroparesis pacemaker surgery or any other weight loss procedure, the surgeon will allow you to leave once you are enough hydrated, have no fever, and the pain is under control. However, the complete recovery time varies with each patient. Mostly, the patient can resume the normal activities within the time span of 2-4 weeks.

How Much Weight Will I Lose?

Needless to say, but the weight loss will depend on how much effort you will make. On average, patients at LI Obesity Surgery have seen 50-70% of the total body fat loss with bariatric surgery over the time of three years. However, the weight loss for each patient varies with the procedure they got, among various other factors. To achieve the desired results, the surgeon will recommend a suitable exercise plan as well.

These are some of the things that you should be aware of before getting into obesity surgery. If you have any other concerns, reach out to a well-known or closest surgeon for detailed assistance.
