What is kratom?
Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) is a tree. Naturally, it grows in Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. In medication, kratom’s leaves were considered of utmost importance, and they have been used as a medicine for a long time. Its leaves were used to treat cough, diarrhea, and infections in the intestine and relieve muscular pain.
It is now taken as drugs because there are some compounds named mitragynine and hydroxymitragynine, which have mind changing, effects, i.e., psychotropic effects. It is also known as ketum, Biak, Kakuam, Herbal, Ithang, Thom.
How do people consume it?
A long time before, its leaves were chewed, then it was taken by adding in water like tea, but now in this modern era, it is grounded and is taken as capsules, or some people smoke it like tobacco.
But now it is realized after studying its effects that it is not safe, it became a drug now, and it may have many side effects on its constant users. Its users become addicted to it, and so when they do not use it, they will have many issues like a victim of drugs. It will cause anger, depression, and mood swings to that addictive person. So if there is a question that is kratom safe? Then the answer to this is no! It is not safe to consume and also it is not approved by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) for medical usage.
It has many side effects like constipation, nausea, itching, dry mouth, sweating, dizziness, insomnia. Its high dosage can also become the cause of liver damage sensitivity to sunburn and hallucination. In some cases, the user may suffer from breathing problems and comma. Muscles ache, loss of appetite, and weight losses at the extreme level are also included in its uncomfortable side effects.
Many people died in some countries because of its high dosage and prolonged usage. Because of its high side effects, it is considered the harmful drug and is illegal to buy, sell, or use in many countries.
Is it legal?
It is illegal in most countries because of its harmful effects and mind-altering ability like a drug to which the user became addicted. In the US, in 2016, 2017, there were almost 152 deaths because of kratoms overdosage. In 2010-2011, 9 people died in Sweden relating to its consumption.

Treatment of addictive people
There is no proper treatment for the addictive person of kratom. However, psychological and behavioral therapy is given to the victim. Scientists are working on it, but yet no proper treatment has been discovered to recover from it.
