Manchester City won the FA Cup final. Manchester City get a historic victory in Football Association Challenge Cup (FA cup) final.
Manchester City became the first men’s team in history to win the English domestic treble as they beat Watford 6-0 in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
First-half goals from David Silva and Gabriel Jesus — although there was an argument regarding as Raheem Sterling got the last touch — gave City a deserved lead in the break, although it was not all plain sailing.
Roberto Pereyra had an excellent opportunity to give Watford the lead early but was not able to find a way beyond Ederson to complete a scintillating counter strike.
It proved to be the wake-up call MC needed, and it did not once seem like relinquishing the lead later Silva started the scoring only a couple of minutes later.
Kevin De Bruyne finished the closing as a competition on the hour mark, getting the ball from Jesus before demonstrating remarkable composure to round Heurelho Gomes and slot into an empty net.
MC got a fourth point shortly after through Jesus and had more history in its sight. In FA Cup final history it happened twice when a team scored more than four goals — Blackburn at 1890 and Bury in 1903.
It’d soon equal Bury’s record for most significant FA Cup final victory, as Sterling scored two quickfire goals within the last ten minutes to make it 6-0.
Although it was a painful day for everybody involved at Watford, the Watford supporters never stopped supporting their team.
