Technology is an aspect of human life that nobody can deny the importance of.
The heat in our homes to our entire home itself;
The makeup we wear to the camera phone that captures its perfection;
The medicine we take upon falling sick to the Operating Room in the hospital;
Everything that we do in our lives is somehow connected to technology. Therefore, it was evident that technology would advance because of its perpetually enhancing need.

And it did, every year; there are so many new technological advancements that astound the audience into thinking “How is it possible?”
A Trend That Became a Reality
One such area that stunned me when I first heard about it was the trend of working from home. I wondered how someone can bring their office home and how it would even fit inside the house.
These were appropriate questions to ask. You must have thought so too?
I am not talking about the present, focus on a time a few decades ago. People had to go to work; there was no other option for them.
Now working from home has become a trend. There are thousands and thousands of people who make their living from the confines of their home.
In the present pandemic, this number has grown to millions.
Why do you think that is?
How working did from home became a reality from an inconceivable idea a few decades ago?
The answer lies in technology.
It is the umpteen technological innovations that have made it possible for humankind to start working from home.
Laptops, Wi-Fi connectivity, video conferencing, emails and instant messaging are the building blocks of this vogue.
These examples will help you understand why.
Bloggers/Vloggers/ Majority of YouTubers
Blogging is a profession that required the person to write about anything, his life, his goals, his happiness or his partner and maybe his children if he has any. He could also write about politics, pollution, finance or the deterioration of health standards.
A vlogger does the same, but instead of writing, he speaks about the topics in a video. So, it becomes a video blog or a vlog.
If he posts the same video on YouTube, he becomes a YouTuber.
All of these are well-paying professions, and all of these need three essential things.
- Creativity to write content;
- A laptop to write it on;
- An internet connection to post it on the internet.
Since all of the requirements can be fulfilled at home, these people make their home their workplace.
Teachers
Did you ever imagine that your classroom would not be a class, but your bedroom with a laptop? I certainly did not.
This trend was already famous amongst university students who would receive recorded lectures from their professors or other students, although the session did happen in class.
Then there are the online tutors, especially the ones teaching English language; these have also taken hold of the substantial number of classes and students.
However, the present pandemic has forces students and teachers to take their teaching online. Making real, offline classes is not possible under these circumstances.
All over the world, schools and universities are closed, yet the learning continues.
An online class works through video conferencing, wherein the students and teachers come live through their laptop’s web camera with real-time streaming.
- This way, the teacher can mark the attendance by counting the screens.
- Take the lecture with the inclusion of a white board as well.
- Since it is real-time, the students can ask all the doubts even in between the session.
- Trust me the online lectures are immensely interactive.
- All the assignments and test papers are submitted to the teacher via emails.
Apart from being physically present, an online teacher does everything by the rule. The use of technology is especially fruitful here because the students would not lose a year of study with the educational institutions being closed.
The Guys in IT
Have you ever had the pleasure of meeting an IT guy? One from your workplace, maybe?
If you have, you might know what I will talk about. If you haven’t, read on.
The IT or Information Technology, or more like the technician himself, has his entire career based upon technology.
All he needs is a computer and what the mind-boggling software and algorithms they need to perform their work. With these, they can do just about anything, anywhere and anytime. Work from home is ideal for these computing geniuses.
I’ll tell you how,
I have been working from since the lockdown began. My company asked me to download some software, but I downloaded something else entirely, and my pious computer caught a virus, not the coronavirus thankfully.
I asked the IT guy; all he wanted from me was an acceptance to his AnyDesk request. With that he was actually inside my computer and opening some applications, deleting some, the mouse cursor kept on continually moving for a few minutes. And voila the problem was sorted.
Winding Up
Work from home came as a saviour for all of us in the pandemic. Without this option, the number of unemployed people who have been so high that government is proving so many benefits like guaranteed acceptance of loans for unemployed but would probably not have covered even half of them.
All this has been possible due to the never-ceasing technological innovations that will forever continue to awe the human race with how much it can achieve.
