Hoopa, despite being new in Pokemon Unite, is already being touted as the most broken character in the game.
Pokemon Unite has been on a roll lately. Ever since the MOBA was released for the Nintendo Switch, the casual online title was met with mostly positive reviews.
It was meant as a game with a more relaxed pace, and the matches, compared to the ones in League of Legends or DOTA 2, are much shorter. If you’re itching to scratch that competitive itch, there’s always the ranked mode.
However, now that Pokemon Unite is also available to download on mobile devices as well, we’ve been seeing a lot of new content being added, new players can always look for Pokemon Unite accounts for sale. From events that give out free skins and Unite Licenses to introducing new Pokemon to the roster, Pokemon Unite continues to evolve.
Then, without any warning whatsoever, the Pokemon Company decided to drop a meta-breaking character onto our laps. Enter Hoopa, the most recent addition to the MOBA, and arguably, the most broken character yet.

Taking A Look At Hoopa’s Skills in Pokemon Unite
So far, Pokemon Unite has done an outstanding job at portraying the anime version of various Pokemon in the game, and players want them so badly they might consider buying Pokemon Unite accounts.
Luckily, Hoopa got the same treatment and has some mind-bending move sets and abilities. Let’s look at them, shall we?
Yoinking Berries and Aeos Energy With Magician
Let’s start with Hoopa’s passive ability called Magician.
Hoopa is the only Pokemon in the game that’s able to use a passive at will, which means that you have complete control over when you want to active it. Magician allows Hoopa to steal berries from the enemy’s side of the map in the early game, while in the late game, Hoopa will steal Aeos energy that’s been scattered around instead.
This ability has a 40-second cooldown, and if used wisely, Pokemon Unite Hoopa can prevent its opponents from healing, thereby leading to being able to score more.
It’s crazy to see how Magician is so overlooked compared to Hoopa’s late-game abilities, mostly because players aren’t used to having another button – apart from the usual controls – on the screen to activate it.
Early Game Abilities
Moving on with the early game abilities, players have Astonish and Confusion in their arsenal.
Astonish is notably effective when it comes to stun-locking enemies, while Confusion deals damage and follows it up with a secondary explosion that slows opponents.
Pokemon Unite Hoopa’s early game abilities aren’t exactly game-breaking and considering that its basic attacks don’t do much damage (this goes especially in the late game), it’s best to hunker down and keep up the defense for a while.
Once Hoopa has leveled up enough, you have the choice to upgrade Astonish to either Phantom Force or Shadow Ball. Your pick depends on whether you want to go on the offensive or supportive. If you prefer going offense, Shadow Ball would be the better move since it lowers the Sp. Def. of the opponent that it hits. Plus, it’s a much easier skill to use.
On the other hand, Phantom Force is better in terms of utility since Hoopa can use it to teleport in and out of a battle or an enemy while still being able to keep an eye on the zones.
Cracking Down on Hoopa’s Late Game Abilities, Most Notably, Hyperspace Hole
Hoopa’s late-game abilities are the star of the show here, and it transforms the Pokemon into a class of its own – an OP support that rivals the likes of Eldegoss and Wigglytuff even!
It’s not an understatement to say that Hyperspace Hole is one of the most broken moves in the entire game.
This ability lets Pokemon Unite Hoopa create a set of rings that deal AoE damage, but the kicker here is it can teleport you, along with your teammates, to various locations around the map. As if that wasn’t enough, Hyperspace Hole also teleports enemies back to their base if placed on your goal zone.
Pokemon Unite Hoopa players that know their way around the Pokemon can do all sorts of things in the match that could ultimately turn the tables.
Bamboozling the enemy team? Check. Stealing the enemy jungle without anyone noticing? Check. Getting that last hit on Zapdos while there’s a team fight going on? Check.
Hyperspace Hole isn’t just a teleportation move – it’s an ability that, if used correctly (incorrectly), could lead to (positive or negative) consequences.
If don’t have what it takes to use Hyperspace Hole since it also has repercussions, Trick is still a great pick. It especially pairs well with Shadow Ball if you prefer being in the front lines as Trick increases your team’s movement speed and gives them a shield.
A Potent Pokemon Unite Move
Hoopa now being known as a top-tier support in Pokemon Unite is further justified by its Unite move – the pièce de résistance – Rings Unbound. While this move isn’t an attack, it instead transforms Hoopa into its Unbound form – basically, Pokemon Unite Hoopa is now ginormous and could easily kick the enemy team’s butt.
You get two new powerful moves, a huge HP increase, and a free teleport for you and your team. This Unite move turns Hoopa into a mean, wrecking machine; the only caveat is that you can’t score when in Unbound form, so you’ll have to wait before Hoopa turns back to normal.
If it isn’t already obvious from this article, Pokemon Unite Hoopa is a powerful addition to any Pokemon Unite account.
